I took the exam before February 2022 and am a Certified or Executive Bourbon Steward. Why is my information not recognized when I try to log in?

Our new website launched in February 2022 and all new users (regardless of certification) are required to create a log in. Your certification data is still saved in our system.

 

I’m a Certified or Executive Bourbon Steward; Why is my course not showing up on my account dashboard?

We have updated to a new system and anyone who took the exam prior to February 2022 will need to request that the appropriate course be approved under the “Previous Certifications” tab. Someone on staff will check our records and approve that you’ve taken the class. It will not be available under the “My Courses” tab unless you took the exam directly through your account on the website (February 2022 forward).

 

I received a code from an Establishment when I took their class, but it doesn’t seem to be working.

Please confirm you are inputting the code correctly (copy and paste is best practice if you can.) The code is applicable to the corresponding course only and you will input it in the “coupon code” box in your cart before checking out. The codes are not valid on gift certificate purchases.

 

I received a code from an Establishment, but it is still asking for payment information.

This usually happens when the code is not applied to the correct item in the cart. Please make sure you have selected the corresponding item or course and that your cart total is $0.

 

How do I purchase a course as a gift?

Gift certificates are available in our website shop. You’ll receive a digital code which you will pass along to your recipient. You can choose to have the code sent to your email, or your recipient’s. The recipient will in turn create their own personal account and use the code to enroll in the course and gain access to the exam. Any applicable course materials will be shipped to the address provided on the original gift certificate order.

 

When will my order be shipped?

Orders usually go out on Wednesday’s and Friday’s each week, time permitting. All orders are guaranteed to ship within 7 business days (14 days the last half of December) from the date of purchase and tracking information will be provided via email.

 

Can course materials be shipped internationally?

Yes, we can ship internationally, and shipping costs are automatically calculated during the check out process. Additional charges may occur, or a refund may be issued if there is a cost difference in the actual shipping price.

 

My book says there’s a code on the back cover, but there is nothing there. Where do I find the exam?

Exams can be found through your account under the “My Courses” tab.

 

How many attempts do I have to pass the exam?

You can take the exam as many times as you need. A score of 80% or higher is considered passing.

 

Is there a time limit for the exam?

There is no time limit for the Certified Bourbon Steward Exam, however, the Executive Bourbon Steward exam is timed at 40 minutes.

 

I completed the Executive Bourbon Steward Online course but I have not received by pin and coin in the mail?

Even after you pass the exam, the course must show 100% or 66/66 steps completed on the progress bar. Once the course shows 100% completion, the pin and coin will be triggered to ship. You can manually mark each section complete by clicking the “Mark Complete” button at the bottom of the page.

 

Will my course expire?

No, you have access to the course through your account permanently. There is no time frame that you need to complete the course within.

 

Do I need to take the Certified level before taking the Executive course?

We do not require the Certified level to be completed before the Executive level.

 

Can I get a paper certificate upon completion of the course?

We currently do not provide a paper certificate as the lapel pin and/or challenge coin are our proof of completion. A personalized letter of completion is available upon request.

 

I’ve lost my lapel pin; Can I get a replacement?

Bourbon Stewards can purchase replacement pins for $9. Please contact the Registrar for instructions via email: registrar@staveandthief.com.

 

I’ve lost my challenge coin; Can I get a replacement?

Challenge coins cannot be replaced or purchased as they are earned only by completing the Executive level course. There are no exceptions.

 

Who qualifies for the Establishment Package?

Anyone who has come through the In-Person Executive Bourbon Steward course is eligible to purchase the Establishment Package. This membership upgrade allows you to teach the Certified level course at your location.

 

I’ve taken the course, but my information is not listed in the Member Directory.

The Member Directory is reserved for our Establishment Members only.

 

Can the Stave and Thief staff come to teach at my location?

Believe it or not, our team consists of only three members. We have a lot on our plates and, unfortunately, cannot travel to teach off-site at this time.

 

Where are classes located?

Moonshine University is located at 801 S. 8th Street, Louisville, KY, 40203.

 

Is there parking available?

We have three parking lots indicated in yellow below. Street parking is also available along S. 8th Street, all of which is unpaid parking South of York St.

 

Are there any hotels nearby?

Yes! As we are located in downtown Louisville, there are dozens of hotels close to our campus. We can recommend the following:

 

Can I stop by and visit your facilities?

We can’t wait to meet you during class, but we are not open to the public, and the space is generally in use which doesn’t accommodate visitors. Special requests can be discussed by calling our office at (502) 301-8130.

 

I’m enrolled in a class but cannot attend. What are my options?
